1971 F100 4x4 South Dakota
Hi everyone! My dad just gave me his old hunting truck/work around the house truck lovingly called "the brown streak". I just got back from Iraq/Kuwait and I sold my other vehicles before I left, I was relying on my CJ8 to get me around....bad idea..the AMC 360 in it took a giant crap. My dad said I could have the old F100 if I wanted it at no cost, he said it should get me around just fine. It is a 4x4 with a 300ci and NP435 in it, It looks to be made up of about 5 different pickups but runs great. I threw a new rebuilt carburetor on it ( I went to rebuild the stock one because it was running so rich it looked like a diesel...took it apart and there were pieces missing and it was cracked) I changed the plugs and off I went with my 9 week old golden retriever 400 miles across the state. I held a steady 65mph for the most part and averaged 15-19mpg, not bad for this old thing. The plan for the F100 is to stop what very little rust is on it, straighten up the body, and give her a budget repaint. I would love to put the trim pieces back on it but they are so expensive I cant justify it, I've already checked at all the salvage yards around here with no luck. I would like to throw a 67 grill on it also, the driver side headlight bezel is bent up pretty nasty and the 71 grille really does not do it for me. I decoded the I.D. tag and it the F100 was originally Wimbledon white with a red interior and had a 360 instead of the 300. The 300 will stay for sure..I have a thing for inline 6's. Welcome Aaron, Looks like a good truck. 15-19 mpg is very impressive for a 4x4, Im hopeing for 10-12 mpg when i finish LOL

I have the same issue!the 71 grille really does not do it for me

SOLD-71 F-350 dually flatbed, 302 / .030 over V-8 with a "baby"C-6, B & M truckshifter, Dana70/4.11 ratio, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, full LED lighting on the flat bed, and no stereo yet (this way I can hear the rattles to diagnose)! SOLD!
Many Ford bumps / one 76' EB / and several dents through the years.
A lot of "oddball" Ford parts collected from working on them for 34 years now!
