67 F-100 build finally getting underway

Post by indy358 »

I am finally getting started on putting my 67 F-100 together. She has a date with the mechanic for Thanksgiving weekend to get the engine installed. Check out the link for my home page, I will be adding pics as we go. With any luck we will have it running in a few weeks, then the fun will begin. I am hoping to have it in the body shop to get the cab corners fixed by the first of the year.

Wish me luck,
Brad

Thanks. I wish that were still my garage. I rented the building to a fabrication company and moved into one about half the size. It's amazing how much we take space for granted....

I ordered the headers last week, the mechanic picked up the engine and tranny last night, and I will have the truck to him by the end of the week. With any luck we will have her running by next weekend.

Well, what started out as a weekend project has turned into a year long adventure. I never realized how many extra parts would be needed for a "simple" engine swap. That and me and the mechanic trying to get our spare time lined up has delayed things until now. The 460 finally fired off last night. I should have some pics up in a day or two.

The 460 is finally breathing under it's own power now. We have everything done with the exception of the power steering and the exhaust. With any luck I will have it road worthy by spring. :D

Well, the never ending project has finally made some serious progress. The engine is now running with all accessories working. We're going to hook up the exhaust this week and hopefully it will be back home sometime next week.

I posted some new pics of the engine in the truck.

Wow, this project really never will end. I have finally had some time to dedicate to getting it back on the road after several other unforeseen problems. Brakes, cooling, and fuel delivery.

Good Lord willing and the Creek don't rise, it'll be tagged and on the road either this week or next.

As soon as I get it back to my shop I'll post some new pics.

Well, due to getting married, having 2 more kids, and restoring a 1880's Victorian, the Ford got put on the back burner. I left it at the mechanics and haven't dedicated any time to it for the last few years. I finally got all the pieces together and got it home a few months ago. After having to have the carb rebuilt due to it sitting for so long and replacing the battery and leads it finally came to life and I got to drive it. It is an absolute beast!

I have found some severe complications though. Sometime during the last 3 years it developed a water leak on the passenger side. As I was cleaning it out tonight I discovered the passenger floorpan, kick panel, and cab mount have succumbed to rust. To say the least I am devastated. I was hoping to be able to drive it as I worked on restoring it but with the damage I have found I'm not sure it's road worthy. The cab mount is completely rusted through and there is a hole the size of a football in the passenger footwell.

I guess that's par for the course though. Everything about this truck has been a challenge and I'm sure everything going forward will be too.
