Well I've been a member on here since last August, and after this past weekends success I decided it was time to start the official Project thread. A little back ground on the truck. I'm the 4th owner, and purchased it back in August 2011. When I bought the truck it had good promise, a nice rebuilt trans and rebuilt 300, and some new parts. It was tired, dirty, and last saw an interior clean and wash in 1968. First thing I did when I got it home was start the cleaning process, and since then I have added some new parts. I have done this purely on eBay sales of old items and collectibles I have held onto, and so far the start to this restoration has cost me $0.00.
The body work is mostly rust related but mostly straight body, a complete bed donor will be needed (rusty floor and terrible tailgate), and some replacement of floor pans in the cab. The rust damage on the hood and top of cab are about to be sanded and primed, and seem to be in good shape. Overall, it has a solid structure, and promise with the right care. This weekend I replaced the Push rod gasket and got a new Starter Solenoid put in, and the engine is running better and better every day. Thanks Tony! I've always wanted a "life project" truck, one that I wouldn't worry about the speed of renovation and just enjoy it. It's been an added bonus that some collectibles I kept from my childhood have been able to make it happen.....I'm not kidding myself though, it won't last long.mybros71 wrote:That truck looks real good.
