67 f100 high school rebuild ** Images Added** and working!

Post by Youngfordkid »

well i thought it would be time to start a thread for my truck. it is a 67 f100 lwb 2wd, lunar green, slow machine :D . ok, since the motor has a good "knock" in it, it currently is a storage spot for some fenders for my 51 f1 pickup. so anyways i will get some pictures.

just to keep it simple, i wont have a ton of pictures, and the ones i have currenly are from the previous owner of the truck and i have not taken any since i got the truck.

to give a overveiw, i will just outline what the truck has/is aside from the obvious.

Drivetrain:
-240 cube six

-new process 435 tranny

-3.70 gears

interior-

-standard cab

Deluxe heater

oil, and amp gauge

and best of all, almost rusted through

bed/body-

has rust, but not bad. the only rust throughs are in the cab floors.

ok, enough from me. let the pics do some talking.

thanks

ok, i did not mention i am in high school, so this will be second on my rebuild list, after the 51 f1. also, i rebuilt the heater over the weekend, and i cant wait to get it put back into the truck. the truck does run, but with the knock, so i dont want to run it incase somthing decides to break.

thanks

If the knock isn't too bad, you might get away with just changing the rod bearings. I did that in my 360 and got another 40,000 out of it. Wasn't knocking when I pulled it to swap in a bigger engine.

yes that is what i am planning on doing. i think i will look at just getting a new crank from autozone. 175 dollars to my door, about a 4 hour job, and i would do clutch at the same time.

i hate to redkneck it but i dont have a large buget so that is my goal.

thanks

Well spring has arrived here in idaho, and brings many good things!

i found a 70 f100 bumpside that has become a donor truck and is also a custom with almost all the toys. so friday, i am going to collect my findings.

well today was good,

i captured some more parts for my bump, off of the 70, i am going back for more, (parts for the 69 bump). for progress on the project, i re-installed the heater, pulled the instument cluster for cleaning and calibration, cleaned the pine needles out of the air intake, installed my newer tailgate, and cleaned. i promise to get pictures tomarrow of the progess, since the three i have dont do it much jusice.

also i am repainting the emblems for the hood, so stay tuned!

thanks

ok, well i know that this is a long overdue update but it is a good one!

so the past few weeks i have been doing little things done on the truck, got the farm mirrors off, painted the inside of the bed, fixed the rust on the pass floor, and painted the floor on both sides.

so here is what i did today:

got all the lights working except the headlights

installed the cigar lighter

got the front brakes almost fixed, i am waiting for the parts that are coming tomarrow

need to get shoes for the back, and rebuild the lines on the axle housing

got the windsheild wiper motor running

so this month the engine will be pulled, along with the tranny and sent to my grandfathers to be rebuilt, and painted.

i will have this truck at bonneville speed week in august, so if you are going let me know!

i will try to upload some pics this week, i have them i just need to get them here on the site.

thanks

Re: 67 f100 high school rebuild** now with PICS**

Post by Youngfordkid »

ok, so now that i finaly figured out how to manage the whole pic thing, i got some images for you all. these are fairly old, by about a month, and the engine is out of the truck now along with the hood being off. i installed a sparkomatic radio that we had in the parts pile, along with some radio shack speakers. i also replaced the fuse block with one that was not so corroded and destroyed. everything works except the horn. we will be at bonneville this august camped at the bend in the road, so i have got some work to do so i can get tires and a battery in this tank.
