Will make working on the B250 easier..
It's one of those weird things.. Sometimes I just want to scrap it but other times I want to finish it.. Hmm.. Sounds a lot like my marriage. (Though that ended up being scraped) lol

That would rock!

Looks good i did a swap of a 48 ford truck onto a 91 explorer frame so know what you went through. But as much as you loose motivation at least you don't have to fight with the rust we have in the north east that and trying to warm the garage up enough to work without ski gloves lol. Truck looks great would kill to find rust free fords like you have .

There's rust on this truck but no like in the north east.. This is just a little here and there.. I've seen the cancer from the east coast trucks. =(

Right now I have the motivation again and have been doing some little things here and there.. Just right now I only have an couple hours here and there to work on it.. Plus I need to clean the area.. It's frustrating to have to keep moving things out of the way to do things..

I have a thing to go to in about an hour and by the time I get home it'll be hit the elliptical and the weights to finish off the night.. Then tomorrow is hockey and sisters b-day dinner. Plus 2 room mates are moving out so I'll be spending next week cleaning the house and changing things around.. I'll try and get outside and do the same with the work area..

Sorry it's been 4 months since an update..

I still have the truck.. Haven't done much.. I've driven it around the block a little here and there. It's still in the same situation.. My work area has gotten cluttered really bad and I'm trying to get the motivation to clean it up..

Hard cause just the though of having to pull the transmission to fix the tranny leak kills it all for me.. Sucks cause I was to lazy to change the front main seal on the trans when I had the engine out.. Now it's coming back to haunt me.. grrr.....

I haven't given up yet.. Just haven't done anything lately. =(

Just an update. I haven't had much time lately with school and job. Plus the volunteer position I have at the local minor league ECHL hockey team. However I've sent the rig to a buddies 2 weeks ago so he can do a few things for me. There will be some updates to post sometime next month. It will be cool with what I have planned. =)

Newest update. I've been chasing my tail all over the place trying to get the Fuel injected motor to run right.. I was trying to solve the high idle issue I've had for years by removing some sensors and replacing them with resistors to fool the computer that it was running right. Of course it didn't work.. And I thought everything on the internet was true.

I was really burnt out and was thinking of throwing in the towel.. It made it even easier to throw in the towel when my buddy's motor in his bronco blew up and he needed a motor. So I agreed to sell him my motor. So I went to my other friends house (Where I did the body swap) to see if he'd help me tear it apart. Well after a long talk and some dealing we came up with a solution. He would pull my motor out and then deliver it to my other friend who wants to buy it.

I'll let the pictures speak for itself.

Here's the truck leaving my house

Image

Front clip removed and my engine pulled out.. (That's my trans on the ground) Hmm.. There's another motor and trans on the ground to..

Image

My engine in the back of his truck about to be delivered.

Image

What happened? That looks like the motor that was on the ground.

Image

Random pic of the issue with the oil filter fitting.. He notched the cross member a little bit.

Image

Front clip back on

Overhead shot

Image

Not much space between the engine and radiator. We thought we couldn't make my fan fit, but he ended up doing it anyways

Random pic of it moving from 1 location to another

Random pic of it back in my driveway

So in the end the buddy who pulled the motor swapped in a 460/C6 combo that was in his 78 bronco. It's just a stock 460 but after the truck is finish and wheelable I'll start getting some upgrades to it. I just want it finished before I try and make it all super awesome. He did a lot of the stuff for me but I need to do some other things.. Mainly I have to wire the truck again.. I had yanked the whole 69 harnesses out of the truck because I put my bronco harness in there.. Stupid mistake.. meh.. Plenty of people told me not to remove the old wiring.. damnit..

There's a lot of little things that need to be done now.. My transfer case now sits 3 inches further back.. He shortened my rear drive shaft for me but I need to have the front shaft lengthened. However I'm holding off on that just for the moment. I have a different friend who said he'd give me an 86 F350 truck since I do work on his cars for him.. I haven't seen the truck in years, but I believe the truck is a 4x4. If that's the case then I'll swap over the 1 Ton axles and don't want to modify drive shafts over and over. So I'll leave the front alone until I can confirm if that's going to happen or not (Should be in the next few weeks) So I need to lengthen the transfer case shifter linkage. Also the column gear selector linkage isn't hooked up. For some reason it didn't line up.. I have a B&M sport shifter anyhow. I just had to order the bracket to hold the cable to the trans. Which I did order it and now it's sitting here waiting for me to install it.

He also just wired me an ignition module to the engine. But to start it I had to hold the wire to the battery and touch the power wire coming from the starter to the battery.. Ghetto but it worked ti get it on and off the trailer.. However today I hooked everything up to the stater solenoid. It's still ghetto fabbed because of the efi harness that's there but at least I can start and stop it with the key inside the cab.

We put my throttle cable on but I need a bracket to hold it in place. That and I need to mount the floor shifter. However that may not happen just yet.. Friday I ordered 140 feet of tubing for a roll cage and it was delivered to my buddies place who bought my motor. In 2-3 weeks I'll be taking the truck to him. We'll go over what cage setup I want and he'll build it. While he's there I'll have him make me a little console setup between the seats to mount my shifter on so I don't have to unstrap my harness to shift it.

Also next paycheck I plan on buying some auto meter gauges. I was going to put them in an F600 cluster I have here but it doesn't look like they'll fit without cutting up the cluster then it wouldn't really look "Factory" like I wanted it to.. So I might just sell it off and just modify the cluster that came in the truck.. Basically pull everything out and use the frame of the cluster to make my own dash.

This week I can't do much more to it. Going to Vegas on Thursday for the weekend to see the Monster Jam World Finals. :hd: After that my girlfriends dad is going to come over and help me wire it up a little cleaner and what not.. I'm going to try and have it done by May.. Can't promise anything but since I paid off my Super Duty last month I have extra cash to buy the stuff I need to finish it.

But there is progress and it hasn't been thrown away.. Sure some may say going to a carb'ed motor is a step backwards but I think I'll be more happy with it in the long run.. Especially once I get an intake and Holly truck avenger for it.

If you want to go with a shorter oil filter a fram ph16 should fit and is shorter . I dont like fram filters but just cross reference it. purolator L14670

I never had a problem with fram until I took one off of the teams drag racing car and it was sucked in on itself. Then I decided to not run a fram. On my Super Duty I use a motorcraft filter. (If I use anything else it leaks)

I think I'm just going to order a relocation kit and move the filter somewhere else.

Fram filters are crap. Use a wix 51068 or Napa 1068. They are for older dodges

Over the weekend I went to the local junk yard and picked up a throttle cable bracket, bolts to hold the cover on the floorboard down and a new instrument bezel for my custom gauges. Which means I'll be selling the F600 cluster I have since I don't need it.

Tuesday I picked up my gauges and Voltage regulator. (the engine I got didn't come with one). However Now that I've done some thinking I've realized I don't need one since I plan on doing a 3G upgrade so I can power the electric fans and some other things.. Doh...

Also talked to a buddy who I do some work for.. He's got an 86 F350 4x4 diesel that doesn't run and he said I could have it, but it would be a month before I can pick it up.. So hopefully he doesn't flake out.. I want the 1 Ton axles from it.

Haven't decided if I want to try and make a harness work from what I have left over of the 87 EFI harness or if I should just buy a harness from http://www.ezwiring.com/wiring_harness.html 21 circuits for only 185. I think that's a pretty good deal and it would be a lot cleaner then what I have now..

As soon as I get stuff done that will warrant pics, then I'll snap some.

Got bored and decided to temp mount my floor shifter so I didn't have to reach down and shift it from the trans itself.. I still need to hook up the cable but it was getting cold and windy..

Image

Quick shot of a couple of the gauges. Also you can see the B&M shifter adapter for the C6 there.

Nothing more to sure but I did order the Wiring harness form EZ Wiring last night.. Should of shipped today.. Hopefully my gauge cluster is done this weekend. So once the harness shows up I can just start installing things and butting it back up.

I did just get a electric fan setup. Dual 14" When the cage is done I plan to move the radiator to the back of the truck right behind the cab on the roll cage. I'll mount the fans on that so it'll help keep it cool.. I'll then get some kind of cover up front to try and keep the mud out of my engine bay. =)

However I realized I need a bigger alternator to do that.. So Now I've got to do the 3G swap.. I've done it on a bronco but now I need to research on what is needed to do it on the 460.
