Nice like the inner patch being flat like that since nobody makes panels for the inside that rots out. I like it. What gauge metal did you use for the inner patch on that so i can follow suit..... Or i'll give ya ten bucks to come do mine for me  Looking good Nice deal on the welder too!!

I have been cutting metal off an old bump side hood. I'm not sure what other guys are doin for the inner corner, but a flat piece of metal, works great! Super easy to. The easiest way to do it is cut a square piece, weld it on, and after you get the outer skin on, just trim the inner to fit the curves of the outer skin. The picture above shows the square patch behind the outer skin.

Cool recycling at it's best. Love it looks clean, and probably gonna follow your steps right there when i go to do my inner cab corners. The ridges are facctory but hard to duplicate. One final question does the flat metal appear to have good rigidity or would it need to have some beads rolled into it to add some strength. :?

i was concerned about that to, but once i got the corner skin welded on, it is solid. i got some crusher liner backing compound from work that i am thinking about filling the cab corners with. it is a glue type stuff that we pour in the gaps between the crusher liner and the mantel, to help dampn crushing vibration, and stop moister from getting in between the liner and mantel. i is a 2 part epoxy that will adhere to the metal and harden. if i do decide to use it in my cab corners, it will completly fill the cab corner, and hopefully dampen road noises significantly. and because it adheres so good, i will never have to worry about rust on the inside of the corners. it will also make them very solid .the only threat from rust would be from the out side, which i plan to coat with spray on box liner, along with the entire under side of the cab.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! I am soooooo chomping at the bit to get back to work on my toys! Just one thing though...if it were me, and it's not, I would keep it a 2WD and have a hot rod truck since your '97 is already 4WD. I have a 2WD '69 and a 4WD '95 Xcab...similar trucks! Anyway, keep up the good work!
