Good 3-Speed Floor Shifter Kit???

Post by sublimer »

I currently have a half-working Mr. Gasket kit installed, but it needs to be replaced...any suggestions for a good, quality, kit?

Thanks!

I would go with a Hurst shifter, but be advised, you might have to tweak it a little to make it work right. The floor shifters can be a little finnicky to get set up properly.

:yt: I have always used Hurst shifters. The one in my Impala is 30 years old. Most likely your issues are the bushings need to be changed and install some new clips. Summit Racing will have what you need. My personal prefernece for a three speed is on the column though :D :D :D

I had the "universal" Mr. Gasket shifter. Went through 2 of 'em before I gave up and rebuilt my column shift. I was going to get the Hurst MasterShift, http://www.hurst-shifters.com/hurst-pro ... FT-3-SPEED, but it was cheaper to rebuild my column. P.S. you might need the mounting kit, too.

Not sure if you still need help with this or not, but about 6 years ago, i installed the hurst mastershift kit mentioned above. I believe i ordered mine from Summit. There are a few different ones online, so i would call and talk to a tech. to make sure it will fit your application. The shifter was slightly offset, and very easy to set up. The instructions were easy to understand, and thorough. Hope this helps.

Since I can't find the Mastershift installation kit for sale ANYWHERE...I'm afraid I'll have to go with the universal Mr. Gasket again  unless anyone has any other suggestions :D

We were talking about the truck shifter http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HUU-3666809/ It requires a mounting kit, in addition, to the shifter. When I was looking into a couple of years ago the shifter itself was around $160 and the mounting kit was another $130+ http://www.classicindustries.com/truck/ ... 77143.html Hey, sublimer! Did you try these guys?

I want the Mastershift, but I can't find a mounting kit that fits. The one you posted is for Chevy's I believe :(

You posted 2 links. The first one for the shifter is good. The second one for the installation kit isn't. I can easily find the shifter, but I can't find the kit that fits my bump.

Hmmm....That's interesting. I click on the link and it goes straight there. But when I go to the classic industries website I can't find it in a search by product #, price, description or anything. Maybe give 'em a call?
