Anyone know anything about early Broncos?

Post by green68250 »

I am going to look at a 1973 Bronco tomorow. Anyone know if they had the dana 44 in '73? Or disk brakes? I assume no disk brakes because the F series didnt get those till '76 or so. Here is the link, what do you think?

Honestly, I really would rather push a Ford than drive a Chevy.

Owned one for over 15 years! The "golden child" of EB's a 76. Not real sure if the 73 had a 44 up front or not, i don't think it did. The 76' was one of the only years that had the 44 and PS I do remember that much.
http://classicbroncos.com/ is still the most informative site on them.

And that one's unmolested/uncut better snatch it up!

I have 3... so far

the D44 was available in 71 IIRC so you should be good to go. Disk brakes were in 76... the auto in 73... Cant remember when they put in the J shift tcase though... maybe 73 also.

it isn't bad for the price... but not good either... I know a could of bronco guys in the Ellensburg/Yakima area, and if it was a good deal they would have it already... ;)

Also, look at Bronocofix.com...

Good Luck!

I know that they're awesome and I'd trade my F-100 for one in a heartbeat. :D

It's cool that it's uncut, but it's pretty darn beat otherwise. I'd spend a bit more and get something much better that isn't hammered.

:yt:
There wasn't and straight panel on the thing. There was not 1 but 2 holes in the top for a sun roof, one was welded up(very poorley) and the other had an RV vent type deal over it. Rust EVERYWHERE, I expected some but not that much, it wouldnt be worth trying to save any part of the tub. The engine ran, but not very well. I didn't bother driving it, I just said thank you for your time and left. A freind of mine know a guy that has a bunch of Broncos and he says hes got a couple of rust free runners he will let go for 4k so thats where I am headed next weekend.

Gotta' love how folks photography can cover up stuff like that. Looked like one to save for sure. :(
Look for a "half-cab" or a 67 "convertible" for a "rare" one. My 76' was turned into a half cab convertible that turned heads in Florida for many years. I had a unique made canvas half cab over a one of a kind frame that supported it. I remember one member here having an uncut one with a 460 stuffed into it. He had a video of it roasting the tires here somewhere.
You can do so...much with the EB's.
