ring and pinion mesh

ive installed new pinion bearings and now that im ready to reinstall i dont see any marks to line it up with ring gear.is it ok to just stick it in there? Also what is proper way to set carrier bearing prload?

What kind of rear end are we talking about? Dana or Ford 9"?

Beauty of the 9", (and IMO why most chebby guys run it) is that you set it up on a work bench. :thup:

SOLD-71 F-350 dually flatbed, 302 / .030 over V-8 with a "baby"C-6, B & M truckshifter, Dana70/4.11 ratio, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, full LED lighting on the flat bed, and no stereo yet (this way I can hear the rattles to diagnose)! SOLD!
