Front drums on, finally!
Just the rears to go but I have to buy the correct seals (durn it). Then some brake bleeding will be required and then I can put her back down on her tires. Had quite an adventure getting the drums turned, but they are ready for some new miles now.

You have the shoes reversed. The larger shoe (with more material) goes toward the rear.robbkramer wrote:Just the rears to go but I have to buy the correct seals (durn it). Nice catch! Well, not too hard to fix that problem. I'd like to believe I'd have caught that but who knows! THANKS!BobbyFord wrote:You have the shoes reversed. Carb installed . . .
Rebuilt carb is installed. Re-routed plug wires since these photos were taken and have truck running now, even put the tires back on (brakes are bled--Mytivac bleeders are COOL). Tomorrow--if weather permits--carpet kit, headliner and seat plus some dash wiring issues. Almost there!

Here's the company I bought from: http://www.stockinteriors.com/AutoCarpe ... odelId=21072stepside wrote:Where did you get the carpet? It looks sturdy!
It's very sturdy and has a good, thick insulating backing glued to the primary area and a kind of silicon seal everywhere else. I have the 80/20 weave and it's good stuff. It also comes pre-molded to the shape of your truck's floor so it's an easy fit. Hard to cut the holes for bolts, etc.--get a super sharp knife--but manageable!

Trick from the mustang shop I used to work at:
When placing a carpet, it is a good idea to let it sit and get warmed before you trim it. Once you have it in place, I like to take a 16P nail, heat it cherry red, and use that to perf any holes that I need in the carpet.
Since I am matching existing holes I can't 'slip' and cut too big of a hole, and the hot nail melts the carpet so it can't unravel if a nut or bolt grabs a loose thread. I especially like it for the seat track bolt holes.

Re: Emma takes the stand(s)
Awesome . . . wish I'd thought of that about 6 hours ago! My wife came out when I was nearly done and said "I should have heated up a knife or something so that wouldn't fray" --OK, so I did it the hard way! I did let the carpet sit for a few hours before I went to work on it and it makes a huge difference.71PA_Highboy wrote:Trick from the mustang shop I used to work at:

Good advice!
