the slow overhaul of the 1970 F250 4x4
Finished the overhaul of the front hubs, wheel bearings, ect on my Dana 44 today and took the old girl for a spin. Did just fine, as expected. Since it is all in running order, I'm looking for a=eithe a solid bed and fenders or a complete part struck as a body swap next. My only issue with my cab is the damn spot light installed in it, even if it is factory Ford option. Will probable start interior work, then bocy, then onto rebuilding the engine, and upgrading to a 390, then after that, my new Dana 44 tha I purchased with Disc brakes.

Nice Truck! A '70 to boot! As the proud owner of two of them, they're my preference. 2WD here but '70's are 70's!
A little O.T. but your 2A in your signature has really piqued my interest. As a devote Lover of Flat Fenders, I'd love to seem some pictures of it...especially with a flatty V8 in it.
My neighbor's got a G.P.W. and I can never get enough of just looking at it and begging him to sell it to me. Pushy ya think?

Re: the slow overhaul of the 1970 F250 4x4
I will upload some photos of my Jeep, just everything I have right now is too big for an upload, have to lower the resolution, or find someone who can explain to me how to reduce the size some.
I have a long history with my Jeep, my Father purchased it in 1982, and I assumed teh helm (with his guidance) rebuilding it starting in late '86. When completed, I took my drivers test in my 1948 CJ-2A. Back then it only had the 134 cid 4 cyl in it, and I believe his intention was to keep me under the speed of 45 mph. It wasn't until I re-retored it in 2005 that I decided to upgrade the motor to the Flathead V-8, when I discovered that a 60 HP engine at sea level makes about 12 HP at an altitude of 10,00 ft (It is now my Elk hunting rig).
I have owned my Jeep for well over twenty years now. I don't see her ever leaving the family.
I will get you some pics soon.

OK, Forrest Bump, I had a pic of the Willys on my cell phone, so I figured I'd attach it for your viewing pleasure. It's not the greatest picture of it, but it is a start. This is of my then 16 year old daughter learning to drive in it (always best to make them learn a manual transmission I always say). And one last note of pride, I perform all of my own work with the single exception of machine work, which I do at least 40% of that!

Thanks Madman! Great lookin' 2A! As I've said, I love flat fenders, Thanks for sharing pictures of yours.
btw, I've STILL got my original owners manuals for a '48 Willys 2A...they're just sitting here collecting dust.

Re: the slow overhaul of the 1970 F250 4x4
My next phase is one of them decision phases, with a twist. I am trying to determine if I should buy a parts truck with a great body, rob it if it's body, then sell the parts truck, or to start an engine overhaul with one of the extra blocks I have. Kinda depends on the dollor flow.
But in order to keep me from getting stagnant, I did dis-assemble the Dana 44 I got from a 76 F250 4x4, and start prepping it for overhaul and installation into "The Beast" (My nickname for my 70 F-250 4x4).
Looks like it needs some good cleaning, and just to e safe all new bearings, seals, and u-joints, but it does look like I scored a locker of some sorts with it!
Atleast scraping dirt and grease, and detailing a casing shouldn't cost much!

I assume you are talking on the Jeep? Cooper makes reproduction Bias tires. These are 7.00x16 Military NDT's. They are an all purpose tire, they only lack on snow and ice, but I have chains for that (Yes...someone actually still knows how to use chains!)Manny wrote:Digging it nice classic look what tires are on that thing right now???

I am not sure what they are, I will have to go look at them (when it quits snowing), they came with the truck. I am going to be out of town for a bit.
