Dana 44 Low Pinion with disk Brakes

Post by Madman »

If all goes well, I should be picking up a Dana 44 Low Pinion with disk Brakes tonight. It needs an overhaul in a few departments, bearings and seals will be replaced regardless, but the ring and pinion look good, and it may have a locker, won't know for certain until I disassemble. But, since it's the low pinion, I won't have to adjust the driveline, so I should be able to rebuild it in the garage, get it all together, then swap into my Old '70 F250 4x4. $160 for it, I figured it's fair. :hd:

Something to consider when you're picking it up is the brake lines and brackets from the truck the axle came from. Not a necessity, but the 76-77 lines are the only disc brake highboy lines/brackets and they fit the older frames perfectly.

I just finished mine, I replaced everything from end to end, every bearing, race seal, u-joint, center carrier and re-geared to 3.54. It had the original Ford big lockout hubs, I replaced them with the Warn Hubs, more reliable and look much better. I stripped it, sandblasted, primed and repainted every part. Also has new NAPA rotors, pads and rebuilt calipers. Just for information, depending on what all you change it will run into BIG $$$$$, I also got new brake lines for a 76 like Madman suggested
