top loader trans ID

Post by Bigblock514 »

Hey Guys I've been looking for a buildable 4spd top loader trans for another project. I found one that was advertised as a 4spd Overdrive. Now, is that really a 3spd with an
additional overdrive gear? Heres a picture of the ID tag from the trans. If anyone can tell me what this really is it will be greatly appreciated Thanks.

You either need to attach a MUCH larger image of that tag (large enough to actually read) or just tell us what the tag says.

:yt: but you can find some useful info here to help your decision... http://www.davidkeetoploaders.com/imposters.htm ....his main page will also help decipher tag #s

Thx for the link 67mann that was good reference material. Mine turns out to be an imposter. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. The 4 bellhousing bolt holes versus the 8 on a typical top loader was a dead give away. Thanks again

What is your next project
I have a RUG-J2
I bought it and have no use for it
I cant seem to pass up any Ford parts
It is supposed to be ready to run
I know that it looks good on the inside
both the gears and the synchro rings dont show any wear

I also have an Aluminum flywheel and scattershield for an FE engine

If you are interested PM me
