Hey guys, kinda a bone head question. Will this fit in my rear axle? Its in my highboy and came from a 1978 f250. Of course its a Dana 60 with 4.10 gears. Whats your opinion of me changing from an open carrier to this?
Thanks
Doug

Re: Will it fit?
If your Dana 60 is original to your truck, it'll have 16 spline axles whereas this carrier is for 30 spline axles. You'll have to change your axles to 30 spline if you haven't already done so.
My opinion is Detroit Lockers are better/stronger especially in a 4WD. Others prefer limited slips as they're not so abrupt as a Locker but a Locker will never fail you...as long as you can live with the clunking and banging they do.

Trac-loks aren't good for much. No real gain over an open diff. Powerlocks are cheap (used atleast) and offer real traction if you want a limited slip.
For a little bit mo0r you can get a new tru-track, they work pretty nice.

Re: Will it fit?
I put a lock right ( I think that is the name anyways) in my 48 Willys and other than the mechanical clunking when it slips (that is normal by the way) it does really well off road. I believe it is cheaper than a Detroit locker if I remember correctly too. I will have to verify the name, though.
