hubs

Post by jhndrrus »

I'm looking for some know how on 8 lug 44s. I'm only asking because I don't have them readily in front of me to tear apart and explore. Whats the difference between the drum hub/spindle and the disc hub/spindle. Are the spindles different in length or diameter? Are the hub flanges located differently causing the rotor not to fit between the hub and the anchor plate? I'm sure I'm not the first yahoo to wonder about this.

The drum axles use the little 6 bolt spindle pattern like GM and dodge. The disc axles use Fords big 5 bolt pattern. The spindles don't interchange in their mountings whatsoever.

Most 44 wheel bearings are the same, but spacing varies.

Seen lots of talk about running gm/dodge spindles-out on a closed knuckle Ford 44.
