Fordomatic valve body issues

Post by mlangbauer »

All, has anyone ever experienced the external transmission linkage "falling out" of the internal valve body "rod"? I ask because a couple of weeks ago it happened. I had it fixed and it has done it again. I pulled the trans pan today and the rod in the valve body and the external linkage aren't together any more (if that makes sense). I am wondering if possibly the external linkage piece that connects in the rod has a broken tip off. Seems strange this has happened twice.

Any ideas at all?

Thanks

My apologies, you are absolutely right. I was thinking cruise-o-matic and wrote ford. The transmission is in my 67 F250. For some reason this is the 2nd time the transmission linkage has become fallen out of the valve body "rod". I was able to get it in and it works now. From what I can see everything seems to be correct as far as the mechanisms. Just not sure if anyone else has ever experienced this.
