89 or later auto lock hubs fit 67-72 f100
I am looking to buy or put together a 67-78 f100 or f150 for every day use. Will the auto locking hubs that were introduced by ford in 89 and later models fit these earlier models? Thanks

i do not know. but a kid took some manual hubs froma 73 so he could put them on his 90 something model truck. he seemed to think it would work. i have no idea if it did or not.

ick. you don't want auto hubs unless you plan on never using your 4wd.
sorry i don't know the answer to the question but in my experience the auto hubs are just one failure after the other.

They will fit fine, just make sure you get everything outside the spindle nuts, because it's all different for the auto hubs from manual ones. Might even price out a new complete set from Ford, may not be that bad, I dunno.
I don't care much for auto hubs, but plenty of people have them and love having them.

I'm curious to know what you have heard about auto locking hubs. What I heard negative about them was when they first came out but I don't know what the complaints were. Perhaps the more recent models the problems have been worked out because I haven't heard anyone complain about them. Given the skepticism I would stick with new hubs from Ford unless someone can convince me to stay clear of them altogether. My business and home driveway have required the use of 4wd multiple times per day with on average of 30 to 60 minutes of driving in between so I don't like to keep my hubs engaged due to unwanted ware on the front end and reduced gas mileage.

If you don't give them regular maintenance (take apart, lube, clean) they don't work right and they aren't as rugged as standard hubs.
I don't really think an auto lock hub could be any cheezier than a premium hub from Warn these days and lots of people buy the Warn things and don't break them.
