brought my 68 Highboy home tonight

Post by harrysnyder »

Well I posted a while ago about this 72 Highboy I found in West Virginia that belonged to my fiancee's uncle, but unfortunately he wouldn't sell. In that same post a guy responded and told me that he had a 68 Highboy for sale here in town. Turns out the truck wasI g about 1/4 of a mile from my house! I had actually seen the truck before but do to the distance from the road and the shrubbery around it I thought it was a 2wd!

So I got together with Scott and looked at the truck, but unfortunately my savings had depleted and my funds were funny. Thankfully Scott was awesome to deal with let me make payments on the truck. I still owe him 3 more weeks but I brought the truck home today and I'm excited to build it. So anyways here are the pictures. I've already collected a 79 High Pinion Dana 60 front for it. My current thoughts are making it into a dually and putting a flatbed on it.

Ideas?

Nice score! Looks original. Maybe you should touch up that replacement fender and save an original classic. That would be really nice, or as they say "sweet".

I don't know, that may be a GM breather. It's hiding an Edelbrock carb under there.

Yeah the grille is pretty nice. Only has one small spot that maybe could be hammered out by a good body man.

I'm still on the fence. No matter what I do this truck will be getting the disk brake high pinion 60 front. Whether I make it a dually and flatbed it or put my really good bed off my 71 LWB I don't know. I'm gonna end up swapping cabs bc this ones pretty bad.

I don't know....

Nah that a late 70's early 80's ford breather like 351m 400 something. Nice rig looks to be all there and very untouched

Thanks guys. I decided to keep it like it is and not make a dually out of it. I'm still gonna swap the disk brake 79 model dana 60 front in it though. I have a very good longbed from my 71 f100 project so I'm gonna swap that on there and find a better cab/front clip somewhere. The motor started knocking but thankfully I found a 360 that runs good about 90 minutes from my house (another forum member here :fr: ) and I'm gonna swap that in to keep me going for the time being. I love driving this truck around, shifting gears and bouncing around :D
