pinion bearing housing hot

Post by blumule »

i replaced both pinion bearings , and torqued crush sleve to acheive about 20 inch pounds to spin yoke . this created a drag on yoke which i expected for new bearings. after a 20 minute drive i crawled under to check for leaks and noticed pinion housing to be hot. never noticed this before and was just curious if this is normal for this part of the rearend.how long before new bearings break in? Should i be concerned? Its not too hot where you cant hold your hand on it but it is still hot,
