how to fill a jack with oil?

I have a cherry picker that the oil has leaked out of. What kind of oil and how do you refill it? I don,t know if you extend the jack or leave it compressed? Thanks for any help.Brian.

Leave it compressed and use hydraulic jack oil or auto trans fluid.
there should be a plug on the side , about a 1/3 of the way up.

Is the plug possibly rubber and pulls out?

That's the one. Fill it until you can feel the oil even with the hole.

I wouldn't recommend trans fluid,but only because using some Dexron i had laying around to fill (an already leaky) rental unit i was using years ago caused a critical meltdown before the weekend was over....
probably be safe if you stuck to Type F

Don't skimp here, go to any parts store & get a qt of jack oel...Donnie
