73 f-100 flareside

Well i thought it was time to start my own project thread. Lets start by saying that its going to be a slow process. Well i have a 73 f-100 custom flare side it was handed down to me from my grandpa. It will be me and my dad and occasionally my grandpa working on it. It is All original with 73,000 miles.

I don't mean to come off rude or anything like that but shouldn't this be on FORDification.org? I believe that's he site for the dent sides.

I think you have a Great looking truck! I happen to like the relative uniqueness of long bed flare sides. The ownership, passed down to a younger family member, is also great as well!

Whenever a member of the younger generation gets involved with old American iron, my opinion is they become better people due to learning self sufficiency, budgeting to afFORD the project, tackling jobs/projects that they have no idea how to do but persevere onward anyway, learn as they go and obtain knowledge and wisdom as they progress.

Living your own dream and casting fear aside is, by far, the greatest aspect of such an endeavor. Also remember to never let minor set backs stop you from your goals as set backs are actually hidden opportunities for gaining knowledge and growth.

That is a sweet looking truck, good luck on the restoration. I'm sure most people won't mind seeing your progress here. A lot of us are on the other site as well as here. The website dedicated to the 73-79 Ford Pickups is fordification.net. Thanks for sharing, Ben

got some work done today. got part of the frame back to the metal and primer-ed. still got to take the tank off and get the inside of the frame. I was going to drain the gear oil in the rear end but i couldn't find a drain hole. i found the filler hole though. How might you change the gear oil in the rear end.

I believe the fill hole and drain hole are the same. You need to use a siphon pump to drain as much of the old stuff out as you can. Unless you want to tear it down a little bit.

Nice truck! Its a cool old ford regardless of whether its a bump or dent. I bet you don't see another like it very often.

Got her all blasted and primered today. Got to pick up some black paint tomorrow so i can paint saturday.

That frame cleaned up very nice. Going to go flat or gloss with the paint?

Good choice I think. I know not many people actually notice the frame but when you do see it it really pops if it's in gloss.
