Ok to shift auto C-6 manually?
I was wondering if it would harm the transmission, or any part of the drivetrain for that matter, if I manually shifted my C-6 trans from 1-2-D. I've read somewhere that someone drives theirs like this but I'm not sure if it does any harm. If it's ok to do it, would you want to let off the gas then shift or just shift. I have done it letting off the gas but I don't want to hurt anything if I do it wrong..

Yes, you can drive it that way.
Just keep your foot on the gas when you shift it, just as if you were letting it shift itself.
If you decide you want to downshift it manually, make sure you don't over-rev the engine by shifting it at speeds that are too high.

Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

Thanks for the reply 70_F100 I think I'll drive it this way a little just for fun. Next time I drive in drive I'll take note of what my speeds are when I shift. Oh wait my spedometer's broken... haha

Some VERY wrong info there.flyboy2610 wrote:Want some real fun? Put a 13-speed tranny in there!

13-speed transmission is fairly easy to shift. No synchronizers, but if you keep in mind there is a 300 RPM drop between gears, you can easily shift it. Don't need the clutch, either, except for starting off.

I'd probably still get confused. Some of that seems unnecessary though..
