Finishing up repairing a cracked shift collar in my '75 Bronco. I also wanted to deal with another issue. I had a couple of instances where it shifted itself out of park and into reverse. I understand this is common with Ford auto transmissions. I stumbled across a link to a cool shift detent plate. I bought one and installed it in the Bronco. The replacement plate is a nice precision made piece. The shifts are very crisp, especially the locking into park. My neighbor has been noticing the same tendencies in his '70 bump with C6 trans. We compared my old shift plate to his and they are identical. Looks like he's going to get one too. Here is a link to the plate:
