I've got a light, occasional grinding going into 1st and Reverse in my '71. Just swapped the column and tranny into it from the parts truck I have, not an issue with the tranny as I pulled the cover and it looks good, when I drained the oil it was fine and it shifted great with no grinding in 1st and Reverse before I had the column installation finished and was shifting from the side of the transmission. I think the little shifter "ear" (stubs on column that the shift linkage attaches too) for the 1st+Reverse linkage might be a little mangled from where it should be. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could post a pic of there column from under the hood so I could have a look at the orientation of the shifter "ears"/stubs whatever you wanna call 'em .
TIA Guys

No problem. I only know because I just took mine all apart and replaced the bushings, shifter tube and TSS.
