Rubicon Trail

Anyone done the rubicon in their highboy?
Planning a trip june 25th to do the whole trail in the highboy and a couple buddies with their rigs.
Figuring i will have some body damage to fix when all done but it will be worth it. I'll be building rock sliders, gas tank skid, and a beefed up D44 diff cover.
I'm worried about that front driveshaft hanging so low, i'll have a spare hopefully, along with many other spare parts and tools.

Who's done it? pics? info? damage?

Starting to think the rubicon isn't a great idea in my truck because i would be holding up people and thats not what i want to do...

It's been 32 years ago that I last went on the Rubicon Trail. I was in a '46 Jeep CJ2A with a 260 CI Windsor Motor. Man it was tough gettin that little flat fender Jeep through the sluice box, and we did damage the jeep's body doin' so.

I wouldn't take my '76 Bronco through it back then and I certainly wouldn't recommend takin' your High Boy through it either. I'm NOT sayin' your Bump can't do it, it's just that you'll tear it up pretty bad gettin' through the narrow areas.

Mine's not a Highboy technically. but I run through there as much as possible.. plan for body work, hope for the best. take your time, have fun, the wheelbase is gonna be a PITA.. watch the grill too, theres at least one spot that prompted my bumper build.. note the RT headlite door

I'm taking the highboy to Strawberry pass in a couple weeks during spring break with some buddies. Should be a perfect match for the highboy plus snow making it even more fun !
This trail is 12.4 miles long and is somewhat near the rubicon. There is potential for body damage but i'm pretty sure i'll get through with no issues.

This summer we are still planning on going to the rubicon, however i don't know if the highboy will be going through the trail or not. I'll probably ride with a buddy through it then decide.

Last year Jeep took a whole fleet of stock vehicles down the whole trail to prove their vehicles are tough... The Grand Cherokee that came out the other end was BEAT TO HELL!!! But it made it. http://www.rpmgo.com/2011-jeep-grand-ch ... con-trail/

jeep grand cherokee what a pile (05' and up)....( i know so many people having probs with them)
bought a new 05' and just traded it on our V10 F350 dually never off roaded it and the 4x4 unit in the front diff went out and the front axle mount bushing went bad, leaking pinion seal.... had to get rid of it that was under 70k miles... we have a 98' jeep wrangler (200k miles) also with a 3" lift, 31x10.5 and the I6, 4.0 CID motor (the commuter car )
