Dual Front Shock Bracket for a Bump

Post by ford4x4fun »

Before I get the replies from the only other post I found in here about the shocks of today don't need a dual setup, and it is just for looks, that is exactly what I am going for! Has anyone put this type of setup on there 4x4. The following link goes to the only kit I could find and of course there is no picture. Thanks in advance for your help.

I haven't run dual shocks, but it seems like I saw the set up when looking at the skyjacker springs for my truck. Can't remember what the price was on it though.

If you look at the Skyjacker website they have a rough sketch of what it looks like.
'78-'79 Broncos have a staggered shock or quad shocks that you could also adapt.

FORD4X4, I had a 1978 F150 that had the quad shocks on it from the factory, and I think it was called the explorer package. Might be easy to adapt to your bump.

I have a set of Ford Factory front dual shock brackets and factory front and rear sway bars. This makes a world of difference in the way the trucks drive and ride. The parts have been stored for years, if you are interested they are for sale.

Yeah I would be interested do you have any photo's of it? And what did it come off of exactly? And there is always the question of what you are looking to get for them!

All the parts are from a 1977 F150 4x4 that I parted out a long time ago. It is only the second one I have ever seen with a Factory rear sway bar. Do you want all the parts?

I would, if they will fit our trucks and the price is right ;) Can anyone in the know chime in here and let me know if this stuff will bolt onto our trucks? I am most interested in the dual shock set up for sure.

The front should bolt up fine. You will likely have to drill 2 holes. One in each frame rail to mount the stabilizer bar to the frame. Hopefully Rick has all the mounting hardware to mount it to the axle. I don't know about the rear stabilizer bar. The dent era trucks frame is wider than ours. It's possible that it would fit by using a shorter mounting bolt to the frame. Maybe Rick can get you a measurement on the width of the bar. You would likely have to weld a set of perches onto your rear axle to mount it. HTH

For what its worth, I tried to run a 78 rear sway bar on my highboy and the width was wrong becuase of the frame difference. I'm sure I could have made it work somehow but it was not a bolt in. The front was very easy on the other hand. Just my :2cents:
