Hello from sunny Alberta, Canada!

Post by UNCLE BOO »

My name is Bruce (which may explain the Uncle "Boo", moniker), and I am a new member here. I live in Calgary, Alberta.
While searching for a Ford truck online (Kijiji) a while back, I was directed to the FORDification site by a Seller. What a great Ford truck information site! And, what a great bunch of knowledgable members!! There is a ton of hands-on experience out there, which I knew had to exist somewhere, but up to now I had no idea of how to tap into it. Now I do! I have been reading a lot of the Discussion Forum's information and am now getting to the point of having questions of my own. I know I will get lots of of valuable advice and support from you folks!
Although I am a "new" Ford truck owner (a sweet original-condition, 60,000 mile, 1972 F250 Ranger XLT with 390 V8/C6 auto; and a "project" 1968 F100 Ranger long-box, with no motor / trans), I am definitely not new to Ford trucks. I was raised on a farm/ranch in southern Alberta. I recall my father buying a new 1963 F100 CustomCab for the farm, which was also used for family camping / fishing trips into the foothills of the Rockies. I learned to drive in that "3 on the tree" truck, and it was my "date" vehicle through much of my formative teenage years. (Somehow we both survived!!) My father later traded in that truck for a 1970 F100 Sport Custom, which was a big improvement over the '63, and which probably contributed to my love of "bump-sides"....always loved the looks of these trucks!
Fast-forwarding to the near present....and I have been looking for that "perfect" 1967 to 1972 F100 Ranger XLT for the last 2 or 3 years. I soon learned that they are very hard to find in original/excellent condition(and at a reasonable price), if at all. I finally came to face the facts and decided to find a reasonably good condition "project" truck instead. I no sooner found and bought the "68 F100, when the 1972 F250 came up for sale. It was as close as could get to that "ideal" truck, as I was ever likely to find. So, I bought It, too! Now I have a zero rust, original condition truck, that needs nothing done to it except maintenance, and a project truck to keep me occupied. I have since picked up a 1976 F100 Ranger "donor" truck, with a 460 V8/C6, ps/pb, which will go into the "68.
As I get into the restoration of the '68, I am sure there will be many 'bumps" along the road, and many questions to follow in the forums. And, yes, I plan to post photos as soon as figure out how to do that!

Cheers!

Hi Bruce. I was the one that you talk to a few months ago and I would love to see the bumps that you have found. PM me if you like.
