Borg warner O/D tranmission questions

Post by Dwharris09 »

I recently aquired a borg warner OD transmission from a local bone yard. i have read the tech article on this thing, and found it very informative.

But my question is where can i get parts for it? i got everything i could off the truck (it came out of a 1966 f-250 2wd with a 352, so it is the t-85 N-11 i belive) but when i got there it was missing some key parts.

i need: the soleniod, the governor, and all the wiring involved. i have plans on installing this into my 68 f-100 that has a "lightly" built 360. id also like to locate a complete rebuild kit if it possible.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There was an article about rebuilding these trannies in Classic Trucks Magazine back in August or September 2009 issues entitled "Night School". You'll have to get the solenoid and governor from someone who is selling used ones from a truck that they're parting out. As far as I know, nobody manufactures new ones although there is a company that makes a mechanical device that is supposed to take the place of the solenoid but this eliminates the semi-automatic function. You would always have to put it in overdrive manually. I can't remember the name of the company but someone else on here will probably know. These are nice transmissions and are very durable.

There is a member on here named stroker69. He just recently pm'd me about a relay and a switch I had. He seemed to know what was required to get his swap to t-85 od going.
