68 4X4 shift lever wont stay engaged

Just bought a 68 4X4 360 fourspeed. The 4X4 lever wont stay engaged. It pops out upon acceleration. Other than needing a radiator she is a nice find. Thank you in advance for any help. Idaho

Check your mounts (motor, transmission). Maybe under a hard pull its moving around and poppin' it out. Also i don't remember if they have adjustable linkage or not but if it does check the adjuntment of that as well. Good luck

I've had a few of those model 21's over the years some with real high mileage ,and I've never had any problems.
I'm sure it's something simple .
