I like it here I'm sure I'm no different than most here and hang on a few auto related sites. hands down this is the most friendly, civil, encouraging and informative there is. I read most all the threads here( and try to post when I have something that I think is intelligent or encouraging :thup) but also I learn from them

The words of encouragement from fellow Ford Guys here keeps one motivated I would have never known about the crown vic install had it not been for this site and the guys with the FORDtitude to try it and post their results.

Sometimes the best part of a completed project (for me) is to be able to share it with friends.
I dont have lofty goals as far as how the body work will turn out, so thats in my favor. And I'm on board as far as pestering the Major suppliers for roof skin, I know it would have made my life easier and I'm not alone, especially in the salt climes. Most every truck I look at around here as a potential purchase for parts or what not sufferes from rust around the drip rail, some more severe (as in my case) than others.
Well I'm sure it will look better with a skim coat of filler on it !

You did a good job repairing the driprail sections, I dont think you give yourself enuff credit on what you can do. If you hurry you can have it finished in time to make it to the charlotte auto fair LOL.

I know what you mean about the welding. I'm repairing a rusty inner fender and its the same thing. li'l gobs-o-weld, then grind and do it again untill all the holes are filled. You did a nice job it looks really nice once you ground 'er down!

Hey all, been lurking but not posting, but not for lack of effort. Ditched the AOD, just finished a c 4 build with most of the good mods (oiling and additional frictions etc) . I havent touched an automatic in 30 years so it was good to get back in the saddle with the c 4, a screwdriver and a pick were the most important tools.

It's back in the truck with a 2500 stall converter from Dynamic in Melrose park Ill ( still family owned and made in the USA). And hopefully I'll make it around the block before it grenades .

Good to see you back Dave. I mentioned your build a few days ago to another member here, (referencing the cab drip rail repair you did and how nice it came out).
After 10 years driving a 3 speed in Florida traffic and two back surgeries I'm afraid I'll always drive a "slushbox".
Did ya'll get to run the truck down the track yet?

Hey Basket, thanks, it feels good to have something to post about. And thanks for the kind words about the drip rail, in hindsight I'm thinking I would have been better off with a new cab. But at least I can let the girl sharpen her welding skills on her own truck, it's not like we're screwing up a concourse resto

I finished the rebuild of the c4 and so far no leaks and shifts good.

BUT, I just totaled up the receipts for all the parts, upgraded internals shift kit, pan converter etc and I'm at almost $600.00. And that doesnt include gas money and time spent chasing stuff down. While doing research on the C4 I discovered a trans shop that offers a highly beefed up for racing C4 for around $1,250.00 (IIRC) warrantied for life, no questions asked ship it back to them, they fix, rebuild, refreshen anytime you want NO CHARGE.

It seems to me that this is probably the cost effective way to go, I dont care how good you feel about being able to build one yourself. I dont think I'd build one again. But it was fun

Hellloooo everybody. Been lurking as usual and I'll be posting some pics soon, we're just about done with the body prep, the roof repair came out pretty good with a skim coat of filler. and hope to have the cab and interior in primer this sat.
Life kind of gets in the way of projects so progress doesnt always move as fast as one would like.
The plan is metallic green interior with clear over it and Hot Rod satin black exterior.

Sure has been a lot of work going on with everyones trucks here at the forum and it's a good motivator.

And funny you should mention the daughter and the Torino, I actually took her to a shopping mall parking lot when she was 17 and taught her how to drive a stick in that car.

Well, finally scored a tailgate, along with a back glass, blower motor and column.

I've got some pics ready to post of the finished roofline repair with a skim coat of filler and rattle can primer, were ready for primer and paint. Let the girl go crazy and she welded up all the body trim and emblem holes to complete the smoothed look.

More I think about it....I'm unbadging my(after all these years of collecting them)truck other than the tailgate. Let the purist crawl all over it at the car shows and figure out how many different yrs it is
