Webb, It would be nice to get away from this crap, and now they're saying were supposed to get 20 inches of snow followed by single digit temps.
Thanks Fordman, thats stalled too in my quest to find a bead roller thats made here in the USA and is still affordable, otherwise it's back to China Freight for one of theirs, and then about $50.00 in steel plate to make it the way I want it.

project update:
Hmmmmm, upon further review it appears my initial bravado all those years ago when I first bought the truck might come back to bite me in the arse
I was toiling in the cold and darkness performing major surgery on the old fella when he whispered to me, I'm too far gone ,save yourself
Never I said, your cab corners are good and you have new floor pans, just hang in there
Here's the roof shots:

Now the surgury:

I need a new windshield as well, are they even available for a 67? along with the rubber gasket :
Well, I can always look at the pretty motor ( runs really well by the way) for motorvation
http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u63/ ... ump011.jpg
Anybody else have this amount of rust thru on the cab roof?
I might consider a donor roof if one were available.
Oh well the debacle continues

Re: Natalies 67- Bump
Dave,
I thought-and looked but NPD doesn't list the roof panels, maybe DC? Or find a donor truck if possible.
I believe all our windshields are the same from 67-79.
I know that i used the windshield from my 79' in my 71. And the front windshield gaskets are readily available from a lot of sources.
You're right about that engine, I could drool over it for hours! What's that small solenoid looking device on the fuel line? Ya'll pumping some funny gas into the engine?
Stay warm up there! I saw today where you might surpass a record snowfall set way back in the 60's!

Re: Natalies 67- Bump
Thanks for the compliment Jeff. I just threw that pic in cause I know we all like looking at each others motors No funny stuff, thats the regulator left over from the ill fated electric pump experiment. I left it on in case I decide to put an in-tank electric.
Still have a very un-tidy engine compartment with wires all over the place but I'll get to that later. Well ,that's some good info on the windshield situation, I'm gonna start looking at the local glass places, I might get lucky!
I'm gonna fix this cab, it might not look perfect but I'll just claim it's the new style coming out of Chicago

Re: Natalies 67- Bump
Seen lots of cabs that bad. Looks like u will have to find a donor cab. Too bad u dont live closer to here. Know a guy with one here that that area is best part of cab!! I think gasket and windshield will interchange from 67 to 79.

Re: Natalies 67- Bump
Hey fellas, back at it. Thanks for the positive comments guys! This cab rust sucks. if I had known how bad it was I would have junked the cab
Hazelnut went out of his way to try to help me out with a donor section but I thought the surgery was out of my area of expertise in my constricted time frame. So now I have resorted to patching the cab in an effort to make it look just presentable enuff to shoot some flat black and call it a day. Here's some pics, dont laugh too hard the angles are somewhat complex (to me anyway) to fit pieces for.

Lots of spot/tack welds , but I have since turned the heat up on the welder and drawn a continuos bead along them, the metal is so thin there's a lot of blow thru if your not careful.
Tiger hair will be my friend when completed

Re: Natalies 67- Bump
Well, I accomplished a little more work on the rusty roof, (and i use the work accomplished generously) It;s truly been a nightmare even with a shrinker, stretcher, and flanger
Not done yet, there's gonna be liberal use of putty , but I'll throw pics up for your entertainment

I agree and no offense taken
I been thru more than a few autopsies (as an observer) and I felt like I was cutting the top of someones head open
At least the motor runs, when I fire her up I'll be able to say " it;s alive!"

Re: Natalies 67- Bump
Dave,
It is looking good, (to me it's always been about using the best of the resources available-which it looks like you're doing). I don't even own a mig welder, so I couldn't do as much as you have!
There might be some good new on the horizon for us all in reference to the roof panel though...
Spoke to my Brother in Atlanta, (he's been building 50's F series for quite a few years. The 50's guys have always been faced with the same issue in reference to the cab roof. Well...a company just started making repop panels for the roof section for them. My Brother got the last one out of the first batch of 100 made!
Maybe if we all send enough emails to DC/NPD/ or LMC it will awaken a sleeping giant? Maybe they will realize how many of us would like to see this panel in production?
