Oh interesting, rover R/Ts havent seen those in awhile. Thats cool. I couldnt help but look up those co-op grip spurs yesterday. I probibly spent a couple hours and called about 7 differant states. Finally found a set in Colorado, Their last set. everyone had said they had stopped making them just over a year ago. So i went ahead and bought them and having them shipped to CALIF. They have that great vintage look to them. Any luck on finding your front end problem?

Haha yeah no kidding it took ALOT of searching. I got the 900 16s. It acually took the guy in COlorado some serious coaxing to even think about shipping them. I pleaded and told him how depreived we were in california and how we cant get anything good anymore because were overun with hippies who make us do their bidding and wear petuooly oil. He must have felt bad because he finally relented. :D But I dont think id be able to find a store that had these new on the shelf again. Maybe somebody has a set sitting in a garage or something. Ill have to post some pictures when they show up. Yeah I know all about cutting firewood to keep warm. gotta do what you gotta do. Play safe out there my friend, I most certainly look forward to keeping up with the work your doing on your truck.

Oh man, you got the 900's you dirty dog lol!!

I did find an old schoolish 900-16 grip tire still being offered... called the TSA super lug, i think they can be had for just over 200 each before shipping.

here check it out. I gotta go cut my firewood, later.

Figured I had problems when the cover had dents from the inside like something was trying to get out.

I figured it was a spider explosion but I was hoping I could take a set of spiders out of a thick ring carrier and put it in this thin ring carrer... but the carrier is junk.

Checking with a buddy to see if he has a carrier for me, otherwise i might go with a T-lock unit from bronco graveyard.

Well at least you found the problem, but yeah the dents front the inside out are usually a good indication something is wrong. Has that front end ever been rebuilt?

The cover has been off before because there is blue RTV sealing it , or was i should say. But I don't know if anything has been done in there.

Both axles look good, could use a set of seals in the housing but otherwise it was just the carrier and internal gears that suffered.

I have a friend at work that thinks he has a carrier for me. We'll see today.

Well at least the fluid sounds like its been changed. 30+ years of faithful service isnt bad. Keep the pics coming! I may have a carrier too if your buddy doesnt. Im not sure but I think in the barn ive got some stuff stashed.

I scored a like new trac lock unit from a buddy who stopped toying with dana 44's a long time ago.

trac lock offers an advertised 50% lockup so it should be a good choice for front axle and it should help quite a lot.

Maybe I'll stick a power loc in the rear end some day, power loc is supposed to give around 90-95% lockup, and they only cost around $335.

Nice  sounds like you may be out pushing snow and cutting wood with your bump in no time! Those grip spurs showed up today. holy cow they look like they belong on a army power wagon. I put a couple pictures of them up in the general discussion under my tires showed up today. Good call on those, they really have that vintage look and just flat out badassness to them.

one thing to think about is the gear ratio in the rear vs the new one that you will be putting in the front. from what i have been told they can over drive each other. i think that means one will work harder that the other one or something similar to that.
