Tire options for 16.5's???
I have always run BFG MT and have had great luck with them but see they have quit making the "OLD" version and have switched to the KM2 version but its so expensive. What are some other options out for a MT?

Give these a day in court: http://www.treadwright.com/p-81-37x12-5 ... g-m-t.aspx
If you don't know much about retreads, let me explain a bit. There are 3 processes that I know of in retreading.
The "wrapper belt", which is when they wrap the new tread around the tire, and then cut it too length and attach it to the casing. These are most of the ones you see scattered all over the road.
The "Ring Cap", which is a ring that they stretch a bit, and slip the tire casing into then cure the casing and cap together. This is what most of the semis running up and down the road are running on their drive and trailer axles.
Then there is the best type or retreading, where they take a strip of rubber and start wrapping the tire in it until the get the entire casing covered, then put the tire into a mold and press the tread into it, then cure it.
These tires are done like process #3. I have a pair of them and they are working out slick. My boss likes them so well, we are going to put them on our 3 ton roll back. My dad ran a service station for 30 years, and sold ALOT of tires in Las Vegas. He only had 1 tire that was retreadded this way come back for warranty. He quit carrying the Wrapper belt style, they wouldn't hold up.
Just my $0.02, but really, they work great. If this is too tall of a tire for your truck, they usually have other 16.5 sizes listed, check back to the site from time to time.
Oh, if you want a plug for a virgin tire, look at the Hercules Mud Terrain tires, they look pretty cool, and Peterson's 4 wheel gave them a great review a couple years ago.

When in doubt, hit the gas. It may not be the right answer, but at least it ends the suspense!!

Treadwright was also featured in 4 wheel and off road I think. They had nothng but good things to say. I plan on trying them next time i need mudders. The prices are staggering in comparison to new rubber.

Thanks Dirty O! I will consider those for sure if they offer a 33" tire. Do they ever run the Puma in a 33"16.5 ? Kinda like the looks of it.

No problem, I always like to share anything I can. I don't know if the Puma is in a 33 or not, I bet if you sent them an email there is at least a chance they do.
Mybros is right, they were featured in 4 Wheel & Off Road...I don't read 4 wheeler so I will take his word on that part.
Treadwright used to be known as Hi Tec Retreading, they used to be based out of Denver, when the grandsons took over the business (3rd generation family company) they relocacted to the Dakotas and changed the name, since retreading is a "green" technology.
Cheers!

Check out the Cooper STT's. i looked at ever m/t and just pulled the trigger today on a set of 33's ( getting mounted tomorrow). From what ive read they seem to take a lot of abuse and handle real good on the road. Good price too.
