can anyone tell me if a 4speed in a 1971 f600 is the same as a 1979 f350...the f600 has a 390 and the f350 is a 351 m... i have a good trans from a f350 and a friend needs a trans for the f 600...thanks for all the help bruce

I think that the f-600 will have a much lager input shaft, also the 600 may not have a rear mount on the tail shaft.

the bellhousings are different. and i think you have to use the f600 bell with the f 600 transmission becasue you may also have to use the f600 flywhel . i dont think you want to mess with it.

thanks for the replys,,,,i think he is going to rebuild the trans he has...said it works well but pops out of 4th gear ,,any ides what that could be thanks again bruce

Check the synchronizers and the small teeth on the gears.

I have also seen worn main bearings in an engine make a transmission jump out of high gear.
