What's involved, Manual to Auto transmission swap.
Planning on installing an auto-transmission (likely a C6) to my '70 F100, SWB. My first project truck and being a novice, too. Need to order from USA, so can't afford any mistake. Hoping you can enlighten me on the subject and fill me in with as much details as you can. Please, fire away

you will need a flex plate and a radiator that has the transmission cooling tank.maybe a new drive shaft.and if you are going to run it on the column then you will need a automatic steering column

panski,
Just completed mine a few months ago. Documented it in my build here:
http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... &start=105
You'll have to scroll through the thread to find more on the C-6 though.
A word of caution....the C-6 is very tight going into our trucks! The firewall to C-6 bellhousing clearance winds up being around 1-2 inches (not sure metric equivalent).

and if usign the column shift you will want the shift rod from the column to the transmission as well you will want need a kick down rod and the correct automatic transmission carb to hook up the kickdown rod or cable. the column will have to have the neutral safety switch on it.71highboy wrote:you will need a flex plate and a radiator that has the transmission cooling tank.maybe a new drive shaft.and if you are going to run it on the column then you will need a automatic steering column
