Looks like the bumper ends were pushed in toward the grille on each end, creating the bumps.

They are almost perfect from end to end :hmm:. It maybe from another vehicle. Oh well, not on the priorities list for now.

Welcome from the DFW area (I get to Austin from time to time as well). I have to agree with BobbyFord, looks like the bumper has been tweeked from the upper corners back on both sides to me.

Here's a shot of my orginal bumper.

And a shot of my new chrome bumper(thanks to ezernut)

Here is one that has the bumper gaurds as well.

I know that they are not relly close or clear and not on the same seires truck(mine being a '69 and short wheel base) but all the bumpers are virtually identical

I appreciate the pics. I'll have to be on the look out for a new bumper.

Welcome from GA! I've got a similar "bump" on my front bumper. Came from the PO (previous owner) hooking a chain on it and pulling something. I suspect, like Racer Z suggested, it had bumper guards on it and the PO threw a chain around them and pulled something, or else hooked both ends of a chain on the top of the bumper and yanked. Bad form! :nono: A decent body man could tap them back down, maybe even save the chrome if it's not cracked. Keep us posted on your progress. Glad to have ya!

Like BobbyFord said, they have been bent back at each corner. That type of force usually bends it just outside the frame rail, not inside. At some level it matters not how it bent, but, can it be fixed.

Yes it is fixable. I would first unbend it by using a come-along or block-and-tackle. Fasten it to the end of the bumper and to a unmovable object. Then start pulling on the bumper. You will need to pull it past straight just a bit. When you relax the come-along it should flex back to straight. Do both corners one at a time.

Be sure the chain/cable can't come loose. You don't want to be anywhere near that if it lets go. Take it slow and make sure it's un-bending (re-bending) where you want it to.

The kinks would be a separate process. Not really sure what I would do there. The metal has been stretched and it is thick gauge. If it was thinner, I would probably use a hammer and dolly. I suppose you can use a BFH and a bigger dolly.

Chrome is pretty tough stuff. I wouldn't worry much about cracking it or scratching it. But it can happen.

SO, I discovered today a new pick and pull. I'm super excited. They people are super nice and friendly. I spent the last hour they were open just looking at what they had. I got a new ignition switch that came with a key as well. The one I have is missing the bezel holding everything tight. 6 bucks! I got a new front blinker light cover and an air box. The filter I have on the truck is about an 8" across by 1.5" high. It was $10 and needs some paint so I got some duplicolor for that. I also found a brand new exhaust manifold gasket set they gave me for free. I literally bought this set 30 min prior to going there, too funny. I was looking into rebuilding my steering column because it's really unsafe the way it is. I can get a column for $49. This way if the NSS and the Turn Signal switch are good, I'm definitely going to save some cash. I also got some Wimbeldon white to paint it the same color as the one I have. I'm headed back tomorrow to get my column ans a headlight bezel I forgot somewhere. I attached a link for the address if you near the Austin/Bastrop TX area. Nobody is allow to go there until I get what I need :nono: .

Nice Yota. We have a local forum where we do some BSing. You can check it. Not a real technical forum, but there is some good stuff. I've got the same user name on there as well.

So, do I keep posting my junk here or should I move out and find a new home?

Well, this is the "Welcome Mat". Clearly you're part of the family now. Wipe your feet and come on in.

Man Last time I went there they didn't have any Bumps. They had a ton of police Crown Vics though... Welcome from Austin. We should meet up and I can show you my trucks. Let me know if you need help wrenching on it. Ben

Edit: I am the brother that J Banks speaks of btw.
