As long as all four are the same type (radial, bias, etc.) and the two fronts match and the two rears match, you're fine.

Are the 'RVT' tires made by Bridgestone? If so, it's part of the tire model name. Bridgestone makes a Dueler RVT, which would likely stand for 'RV/Truck'.

so, in a related Q: if I put bigger tires on the back than the front, this means I cannot rotate them, correct? I request an explaination of the real effects this has, not rotating tires. can i get away with just swapping side-to-side? I am trying to get over this childish desire to have huge tires on the back of a tired old 360 stock engine having truck. It isn't working, so I guess it is time to consider a savings account to bump the old girl up to a 390 made out of the 360. :D :woohoo:

If you want to run Bigger tires on the back go for it. Non rotating properly just means you will not get as many miles out of them. If the Truck is not your daily :drive: the tires will last a good while without rotating. I stay with the same size all around to allow for rotating and longer tire life. But to each their own. Besides what do I know? I'm just an Old F--t thats been around a few blocks. JMO

Put whatever size on the back you like. Chances are with these old rides you'll burn through the fronts much faster than the rears. And like Mancar was saying, the rears will probably dry rot before they ever need replacing, especially if it's not your daily driver.
67 F-100 Flareside, 300, Offenhauser 360, Holley 390, Duraspark and MSD ignition, NP-435 4-speed, 3.55 Dana 60, and it will absolutely roast 30" rear tires taking off in 2nd (the one time I tried scared the Bejeezus out of me)

Next engine mod: RV cam (252*)

I a sorry and wish my best. If same size is the vote of old farts, as you indicate, i shall follow the advice of my elders. best hopes for you two. thanks again for all the help.

I managed a tire store for a while. I learned a few things about tires.

Always put the larger tires on the back.

Your truck was designed with the same size tires in mind. It will drive and handle better with four equal tires. This mean it will be safer.

Swapping tires side to side will have little to no effect on the wear pattern.
The fronts wear on the edges cause they turn and steer the truck. The fronts will have a rounded look across the tread.
The rears wear in the center more and will have a flatter look across the tread.
Rotating front to rear will help offset this wear pattern. Rotating tires will help them to wear more even and ultimately last longer.

If you really want an education on tires, go TireRack.com. They one of the best tire write-up pages I have ever seen.

I've got 11.5 x 16.5 on my F250. I'm using the CS rims. It looks good, full like it should. Yes I can go taller, but I don't want to. And no, I don't know how much taller I could go.

I have enough trouble planting my backside on the seat without taller tires.

Thanks folks. So many mods to do. So little patience. I would like it if my truck could morph into what I dream of but I would miss out on the learning. I so nearly gave up on this truck b4 I found fordification.com.
