4x4 lift removal questions
Ok when I did the 4x4 swap the 74 I swamp frames with had a major lift on it. I say major cause every other f100 4x4 sets a lot lower than mine. I am wanting to remove the lift blocks on the rear axle and put factory or no lift blocks if possible on the rear axle. And put factory coil springs up front.
My question is what is the normal height of the blocks in back if any on a 67 to 77 f100 4x4. The springs up front I would just have to order new ones. The rear I don't have original ones.
The lift on this pickup wasn't done very well and I just want it to be a little closer to the ground.
For a change I'm lost on what to do. Any help is appreciated.

If I remember correctly the blocks on my truck are like 6 inches.

Re: 4x4 lift removal questions
guessing no one has had the time to check their truck.
Im wondering if i could get away with no lift block at all on the axle, i dunno. although i am gonna have to add a extra leaf or two to the rear to help the weight of that flat bed.
So if any one has the time could you measure how big the block are on a stock f100 4x4 or if there is even a block.
And a picture if possible may help.
thanks again

Re: 4x4 lift removal questions
4 inch block is standard for a high boy but i didnt think it was for a f100.

Re: 4x4 lift removal questions
Ill check mine tonight, and post a picture of what I have. I also would like to return my truck to stock 4x4 height; most of my buddies think I'm insane for wanting to do it though, so I plan on doing it by myself in the dead of night with the windows covered in my garage. hehe.

Re: 4x4 lift removal questions
Any luck with pictures or such? I say its your truck even if your friends say your crazy for wanting to remove it. Most of my mechanic friends say I'm crazy as well.Aventinus wrote:Ill check mine tonight, and post a picture of what I have. But its just not fun to try and get out of that truck when its icy and fall flat on your face.
Plus like I stated before my lift wasn't really done properly so I just kinda want it back to stock height.

Re: 4x4 lift removal questions
Just checking in to see if anyone had some time to get a picture or two. And or see if I anyone had some info about a stock f100 4x4 if it had lift blocks or not and if it did how tall the blocks are.
Thanks again

Re: 4x4 lift removal questions
my 72 had 3" blocks on the rear. a qwestion for you if you have a 6" lift did they do a drop bracket for the radius arms. if so you will need to remove it and put it back to stock.

Re: 4x4 lift removal questions
No no drop bracket and I remeasured the blocks they are just over 4 inches high. Which are highboy blocks I think. I know this 74 f100 trucj in bought for the frame swap sat like a highboy and from a distance I thought it was one.
But every other f100 4x4 I've seen in this era didn't set much higher than a 2wheel drive truck.

Re: 4x4 lift removal questions
mine look to be about 3 1/2 inches high. i can only guess that they are a stock factory lift block. they look like another set i seen on ebay a year ago or so. it was night when this picture was taken. my daughter had a camera phone with flash built in.

Re: 4x4 lift removal questions
Thank you very much. That looks about half as tall as what is under my truck. I got a starting point.
