Hello helo,

Post by 66_Ford_f250 »

How are all you guys doing? I am new to this site effective today. But I have been hanging around anything with a motor for many years. I am currently working on a `66 F250. I was just reading some of the posts here. Good stuff... I do have a suggestion for all of us who has a engine that has not been turned over for awhile. Now it doesn't work on every engine, cause it depends on how the oil pump is driven. But if by design your engines oil pump is drive from a shaft at the bottom of the distributor, This works great. I have a boat with Chevy 350's in it, ANd I do this frequently.
take the cap from the distributor and mark where it aligns to. Remove the distributor, Using a rod of similar design as what is needed in the oil pump. place the rod in a drill, lower the shaft into the dist hole, and spin slowly at first for a while. This will feed oil through every passage, journal, bearing in the entire engine. When done replace the distributor in the same position it was removed from. This pre oiling has helped me free up engines that have been setting as much as 8 or 9 years without any noticable damage to the engine at startup. Of course you should still fog or oil up every cylinder as well, and hand crank it a few times after preoiling. Great SITE !!!!

:wel: from Phelan, SoCal. Thanks for the tip! That's what I appreciate about FORDification is the willingness of ALL members to help each other out. It's the collection of seemingly small random bits of information that, when combined, broadens our collective understanding of our beloved Bumps.

Welcome from Lousiana.
Vi hilser til Day
Vi hilser sønner Day
Vi hilser the Night og hennes døtre
Se på oss nå, med myke og ømme øyne
Velsign oss som sitter her
Vi hilser gudene
Vi hilser på gudinnene
Hilsen til deg; hellige Earth
Gi oss en gave av kunnskap og visdom
og la oss få hender som kan helbrede.
