aod on a 6

Post by timmytim »

Ive been trying to id my trans ever since I bought the truck.It came with a 3 spd manual but the last owner put a auto in it. He said he cant remember what it is only it was rebuilt 4 years ago and its got a shift kit. The trans pan is shaped just like a AOD but it doesnt have a tv rod and it only shifts twice. An aod pan cant fit on a c4 trans right? If its a aod why doesnt it shift into over drive? :( :(

The AOD Trans pan will say "Automatic Over Drive" and Ford in an oval, and "Metric".

Also, the c4 will have a vacuum modulator hooked to the back passenger side.
Hope that helps.
1968 F100 Took the running 390 out, and installed a Built 300 with AOD.

i don't know anything about a AOD. but maybe this TV rod missing is why it only shifts twice.

Most likely a C4;

A C4 is a very good transmission when working right.
How does it run?
