My Neighbor's Truck

Post by SailorHarry »

Hello all,

I just joined the group looking for some good info and advice specific to these trucks. Looks like just the place for it, lots of brains to pick. Let me introduce the truck in question.

My neighbor is the proud owner of a 1972 F100 4x4 with a 360, 4 on the floor, and no power options whatsoever. It's school bus yellow and only rusty around the edges. It was her grandfather's farm truck and she has pictures of herself sitting on the hood when she was four (she is now in her late thirties). The truck is all original...some might say neglected. At least that's better than molested. Its her daily driver and the family's only vehicle (sorry guys she's married). Underneath is an oily mess but it starts every day and gets her where she needs to go. It was driven down here to New Orleans from Montana via New Mexico a year or so ago, surely an epic voyage. She's now far from family and can't find a trustworthy shop that wants to deal with something that old and potentially troublesome.

Enter the helpful neighbor who loves old cars and want to help keep this old soldier on the road. It's just too cool to die, but it needs a little help. And me, I'm a car guy not a truck person...so I need a little help. Last night I changed the oil for her and checked into a few things that need attention. I'll be posting about those in the relevant categories, I just wanted to introduce myself first.

So thanks in advance to everyone, this looks like a great forum. With a little help from you all I hope to keep this old beast pounding the pavement.

Thanks door the hearty welcome everyone.

A big part of my generosity here is just that in like fixing things and this gives me an opportunity to work on something new and different to me. Also having a neighbor with a pickup who owes you a favor is a good thing...

Peace,
Harry
