Straight from the murder mitten itself.. lol

Post by Undrstm8ed »

Hello fellow enthusiasts,

Always felt like these were AA meeting like. However, since I was an @dmin on several sites and owned a couple myself. I know its necessary to keep the flow of posts moving.

Little about me, Total tech-weeney.. yes, yes.... I know if its got tires, wires or a pretty smile, I've got a hand in it. Wait a sec.. that is soooo gonna be taken wrong I know it. lol

Originally a O.C brat born in Orange, CA. Mother didn't like husband #1 options so took a chance at curtain #2. Needless to say shes doing better off than father whom I believe is on curtain 5 or 6.. I don't know. Anyway, wisked off to Detroit where I grew up a fairly normal child in an upper middle-class family (I know I'm an oddity). Wanted to be an engineer, saw how my real father struggled working for Rockwell, Hughs aircraft and such and figured maybe engineering is not the best way to go. I took an interest into another industry, 12 volt. Started off doing backyard installs that received some very well street credit back in the day. Now before you think I just built audio systems that make you pass a kidney through your colon.. Note: I grew out of that phase rather quickly as "sound Q" became more of a challenge and appreciation for me. I became a huge audio snob but for good reasons later to be mentioned. I eventually was pulled into a well known custom shop as their grunt in training. Soon after wards I found myself wizzing through the M.E.C.P. (Mobile Electronics Certification Program). Within a couple years ended up following the money from shop to shop picking up new habits and techniques and eventually other hobby's I still have trouble affording. Within those 7 years I grew tired of the high school job and wanted to go a different route. First stop was United Technologies Automotive where in 95' i worked on the 98' Ford Ranger and Explorer platform. I commenced last minute revisions at the pilot plant in Dearborn, MI. and addressed other tasks of functional and NON-functional harnesses for the program. It was fun and interesting working with engineers and such but after 1.5 yrs job status wasn't enough to bring me in direct to Ford when the contract ended. So off to Delphi I went and worked another truck platform for GM. Another 10 months and that program was terminated as well and shipped over seas.

I was adopted by friends in the industry that were starting a 12 volt M.E.C.P. 16 week training course for GM, Ford, Chrysler, and Mazda employees. So did that for several years until I finally figured out my AutoX and road course hobbies were what I was most interested in. Dare I say it, I was putting many sport compact cars together for both street racing and track use. Eventually made enough doing that I partnered up with one of the greatest and most anal Engine builders I know. And another great man whom had a warm place for old school muscle cars. So here we had 3 brains of technical services in a full out shop of little more than 23,000 sq ft. twelve 4-pt lifts, 8 finger lifts, two paint booths (one for media blasting chassis and another for painting in), parts dept, sales desk with Online help, and lots of storage and a 2wd dyno, it was nearly perfect. I say nearly because this was one of Modern Engineering's buildings and it was so damn expensive to heat. Rent was only a mild $8,002 a month.. HA heating bill was nearly 2/3 of that. Anyway long story short. One business partners wife contracted Cancer and the Misses past this life into the next. Myself and the other business partner both ended up in divorce courts. Needless to say not more than a full 5 years invested and life took a hard right turn with a switch back left turn for the worse.

SO! on a happy note, Sept 25, 2010 was 5 years for my divorce (everyone clap).. thank you.. I know i still get congratulations and we're sorry's. Its perfectly okay. She wanted an out, my close friend, I included the new car, the house, annnnnd the gift of missing me. Only thing that sucks is after 3 yrs drowning in c/s in Michigan I came back home to SoCal for better work and the opportunity to provide a better life for my 3 boys. That bothers me the most as I haven't seen them since April of 09.

I will say I am not stranger to any make or model. However, I will apologize in advance because most of my knowledge base is derived from the [small voice] Import world. But I've been in the automotive limelight quite a bit. Mostly on the counter-intelligence side of things. Had to know my competition for the streets in Detoilet. There are some amazing things in all respects of the auto world. Ive seen from the actual assembly plant level to showroom. Been in the midst of the political side of some things so again forgive me if I inquire a question of reference in a thread.

If your still awake or haven't started running my I.P. addy as you were loading your guns, grabbing pitch forks and torches. Note I am the proud owner of a 72 Ford P/U F100 which I plan to do a frame up restoration on. Sadly for many, I am not much into straight line racing much. Seems to set the stage for who has the better mechanic and the deeper pocket book to me. After an ex wife, 3 sons in the aforementioned commentary needing college tuition sooner than I will want. You'll notice I have none of those, So I will be making up time in the corners

Any questions, hate mail.. feel free to PM me. Sorry to waste so much bandwidth.. lol

Well my short version of intros is less than interesting and seems to work more or less in the way of a sales pitch. Works better on the ladies in the club or bars really. Very rarely am I short on words, its a teaching thing. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, Its been quite a few years since I decided to pick up the tools and put my thoughts to work. I use to work constantly and still maintain over 60+ forum accts when I was totally in the scene and industry. Now I just work and I am trying to get that motivation back after a major reset in life 5 years ago this past Sept. Ive found some with this truck as a new challenge, its totally off the wall of norm for me and that is where my drive is coming from. Ill post up the stock photos in the gallery later tonight. Right now, I have to do the work thing so I can afford all these new parts I found. lolz
