Hey guys, Ive got one for you. in my 72 the clutch and brake pedal were loose since I bought the pickup last year. Immedietly I thought " oh those pesky plastic pedal bushings" so last night being bored I pulled the clutch and brake pedal out to find the plastic bushing where fine but the aluminum(?) bushing type thing that the plastic pedal bushings go into are whats loose inside the pedal support structure.I was unable to remove these and I checked with LMC and of course dont offer these for sale. Anyone else out there encountered this problem before? What was the fix can you even replaced these? Any input would be most helpful,Thanks

Re: clutch and brake pedal loose......
Good evening Rich!
As far as I know, there aren't any reproductions of those soft metal bushings. My '72 F250 had the same problem!
The best way to fix this problem is to have the pedal support housing modified to accept ball bearings instead of those soft metal bushings.
Since this modification requires welding, and I have zero welding skills, I hired Mustang Steve to do it.
Here's the thread wherein I documented that adventure, including posts from Mustang Steve himself!
Loose metal bushings in the clutch/brake assembly
Rich, send me a PM if you'd like to stop by some weekend and check out the modification in person. I'm not sure how much you can see, given that it's all installed up under the dash, but you can at least sit in the cab and try out the pedals. I think you'd be impressed with what a difference this modification made to the feel of the pedals! They're very precise now (not to mention moving independently of one another)!
I'd offer to drive #50 (my truck) to somewhere we could meet, but it's not street-legal yet. So you'd have to cruise by here to check it out!
