They NEVER look right in our trucks and the shifter is always in
the wrong spot. The shifter should be where the 4 speed top
loaders are, period. That after market shifter looks ghetto.
Remember the true/false questions we had on tests back in elementary school? :)
And how all you had to do is look for words that represented -absolutes- like...
"always" and "never" to tip you off the statement was prob'ly false? :)

Hey, guess what?
It still works! LOL :)

It all depends on what a guy wants and/or will settle for doesn't it? ;)
Me?
I would add an extension to Kyle's gear shift lever and then
heat the lever in certain spots and bend it to suit me.
Hmmm... guess what? ;)
BTDT already. LOL :)

(also shows the extension I made when I worked in a machine shop in '79)
(the upper end looks like the original and the lower end is recessed to match)

ps- for the money spent on a Hurst shifter could a guy get a T18 or NP435?

You sure act like you know it all....

...And obviously you don't. The top loader T18 and NP435 won't fit in the 3 speed trucks due to the smaller transmission hump without modifications.
Side oiler FE, see if you can catch me!!!

Won't fit never?

Looked into it myself a couple years ago. Had the Mr. Gasket one and was "not happy". I've got a 302 with a 3.03 tranny and the one I was going to go with was the 3666809. You'll also need an installation kit 3670027. Altogether it'll run a little over $300. Be sure and call and talk to somebody so you get the right kit. There's a lot of variations. I rebuilt my steering column and went back to the column shift for around $100. I'm inclined to agree with sideoilerfe :) Not always or never, just inclined. Since the rebuild, she shifts smooth and easy!

I'm with SideWinderFE (and a couple others from another thread?)...
IMO, for that price, look into a good used T18 or NP435. :)

I bought a whole parts truck with a T18 (but without its 360FE) for $500.
Delivered with a smile. ;)
Just watch Craig's List. :)
