Wish I had done a lincoln locker before because we are really close but oh well! I have a mini spool in my 74 bronco wheeler and they are good in the hills but not the street in my opinion!

On the street, I'd run a Detroit/Lock-Right/Spartan locker in the rear and the same in the front if you want one. Best compromise between traction and tire wear. I ran a Detroit in the rear of my last wheeling rig/daily driver ('85 Toyota) and had no complaints. It gave me great traction off road, and handled fine on road (FANTASTIC power slides in the rain).
Wheeling wise, it depends on what you do. Around here, I wouldn't run a locker in a 44 front with anything more than about a 33 under a v8 full size with my driving without beefing it up axle and hub wise. I'd be blowing joints and axles up left and right. In nothing but mud, you'd probably be fine with big ass tires and stock parts. Around here, we got trees and rocks to go with the mud.

I think your statement depends entirely on what you call "mud". Mud and sand do plenty of damage. I've broke far more parts in mud and sand than on trails.

If the boy lives in Eatonville he knows Elbe Hills....and if he knows Elbe Hills he knows NW mud just fine....averagef250 wrote:I think your statement depends entirely on what you call "mud". Mud and

I think the point he was trying to make was east coast and midwest mud is entirely different from NW mud... NW mud can scatter parts easily with smaller tires because of tree roots and such added to the mix instead of just tearing up a muddy field.
To answer the original Question...I wouldn't put a spool in any end. Your best bet is a tight limited slip or selectable locker of some sort..I'm fond of the ARB but as Dustin suggested it would be nice if they were LS in "open" form.. The detroit has its place but for your application I don't think so...
