These are all the pics I have. Those large holes were cut in the pieces I got from Dennis Carpenter. I still have the original pans/mounts. I'll try to take some measurements for you and let you know. I think though if you just get it close it should work.stephen44 wrote:72stepside wrote:

you can see my poor attempt at http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 9&start=15
Also as my mounts had totally gone - do you happen to have the measurements for where the hand/foot emergency brake cable goes through ?

Re: Project "Uncle Fester"- 5/16 Under cab coated w/ POR-15
on the por-15 did you use the top coat also? Since por-15 is UV sensative and will turn greyish from sun Im top coating all my por-15 also. Looks good

you don't have to on the underneath - UV can't bend corners - so will never reach the underside.

Re: Project "Uncle Fester"- 5/16 Under cab coated w/ POR-15
Ok, well the cab is getting pretty close to priming.
Dad got the in cab tank filler hole closed up...
Here's the overall state of the cab currently. I've gotten everything cleaned off of it and just about all the rust has been handled. You can see the top required some work.
Here's a before of the cab floor prior to POR-15 coating.
I coated only up the firewall, under the dash, and the new floor pans. I'm gonna just paint the rest.
I am longing for the day when it looks something like this! (Yeah, I played with GIMP2 a little bit today). I'm gonna make the red a bit darker so that I NEVER get mistaken as a 'Bama fan.
Stay tuned...

The weather as of late has been a killer. Spraying primer in the rain won't work. Maybe later this week.

Re: Project "Uncle Fester"- 5/25 Ready for cab to be done
Since I'm still needing to do this.....what do you need to seal up underneath? I figured the undercoating would seal up all the little holes in the welds to keep moisture out ( I'm going with chassis saver). I can't recall any sealer underneath mine....course its still covered in rust, dirt, and paint
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Project "Uncle Fester"- 5/25 Ready for cab to be done
Ladies and Gents,
FINALLY, the cab is primed. All cab body work is done!!! We actually got it sprayed last Monday (6/7), but I'm just now getting around to posting pics.
Etching primer:
Gray scratch primer:
The cab is now back at my house secured under my barn. The frame/engine/tranny have been delivered to my Father's so we can begin on it. It'll be good to get into something that isn't body work!!!

Re: Project "Uncle Fester"- 5/25 Ready for cab to be done
I covered the entire underside with POR-15, then filled the remaining cracks with the 3M seam sealer available at AutoZone.waynaferd wrote:Since I'm still needing to do this.....what do you need to seal up underneath? Re: Project "Uncle Fester"- 5/25 Ready for cab to be done
Oh, I almost forgot. You can coat the cowl vent area beneath the 'grill' with POR-15 by taking a small paint brush, cut off the handle, then screw a long handle perpendicular to the brush. It worked very well. Hopefully the coating will stay. I got the surface as clean as I could.

Re: Project "Uncle Fester"- 6/11 Cab is PRIME !
So, today I started with the engine work. Here's a photo of the beginning of the day...
Most of the accessories removed ...
Hangin' out in the shop!
What a filthy mess...
And the 'truck' as it sits now...
I'm stoked about doing something other than body work!!!
Stay tuned...
