Re: dana 44
it will bolt in, the gear ratio might be different then there are low pinion and high pinion the drive shafts are different lengths. If you do swap low pinion for low pinion or vise verse no problem.

Re: dana 44
ok its a low pinion just like i have. he said the ratio was 4.09, i don't exactly know how he got this information he said the ID tag was missing and mentioned counting the gear teeth, so he might have done the math and came up with 4.09 but dana just rounds up to 4.10? i have 4.10's i believe, its been a while since i looked

Re: dana 44
yeah since i never use 4wd on a solid surface that 2wd can handle. would it come from the factory as a 4.09 up front and 4.10 rear?

Re: dana 44
ok so he got me a picture of the ID tag. it clearly says 4.09 with an axle code of d31a-ga. bill of material code 603395-1. i looked it up and it appears to be from a 1973-1975 f-250.
will this still work?

Brutus,
It is from an F250. Do you have an F250.
If the anwser is yes, then yes it will work, if no, then it will not.
you will have to make some changes regarding the brake hoses.

Yes, our trucks were 4.09 front, 4.10 rear. Unless you had an old low pinion 60 front then you got 4.10/4.10.

Re: dana 44
ok i verified my current ratio is 4.09, i just want to be sure this axle will fit perfectly when i drive 5hrs round trip to go get it. if there is no difference then why would the BOM code say its from a 73-75 and not a 67-75? there must be some kind of difference
