Going to Mexico (w/pictures, best for last)

Post by ForingaMex »

Yeah, I'm going to Mexico :woohoo: for some meetings. Unfortunately no holidays but it should be good anyway. I hope to at least get some good Mexican food. Driving to Detroit, flying from there to El Paso TX than we rent a vehicle and drive the rest of the way.
Edit: Sorry, wrong thread. Meant to put it in General Discussion.

It hasn't been just the last couple of weeks but more like the last couple of years. Becareful in Juarez and keep your head down, the drug cartels are causing BIG problems on the border towns and it is starting to spill over into the US. There was a rancher by Douglas AZ killed last month by a couple of illegals. Hope you are going further in than just Juarez. Becareful (can't stress it enough).

Thankyou to the Mod for moving this thread.
Thanks to all of you for your concern. We arrived yesterday (Sunday) afternoon here in beautifull El Paso and we're drining into the interior of Mexico (about 250 miles) in about an hour. I'm the main driver for our group (Minivan, not my truck) and we're going to bypass Juarez. About 20 miles further but worth it. I'm going to keep my eyes open for some bumps.

:woohoo: We arrived safe and sound. Had some great food in Villa Ahumada (about 1 1/2 hours inland from Juarez). Seen a couple of bumps (one nice red 67-69 I think) but was driving and couldn't take pictures.

I'm having a good time, lots of good food and I've seen lots of bumps. Some beat-up ones and a couple of really nice ones but all American (LWB) and no Mexican (SWB). Tomorrow I have free time so I plan to drive around, look around and take some pictures.

Sorry, I have never heard that song before.
Well I returned home Monday at about 2:30 am. Had a good time but it's also good to be back home again. I'll post some truck pictures in a few days.

Sorry to come in a little late on this thread but Welcome to El Paso, :wel: I bet the weather was a change for you. That would be crazy if you were to see my truck driving around :drive: but I dought it since the airport is on the other side of town. If I would have been home instead of out and about with friends and read this thread I probably would have know you were headed in. I was actually out by the airport on sunday. Cool to know that someone else from the site has passed through my town. :D Well I hope you liked our little corner of Texas. You cant get any closer to New Mexio or Mexico than we are.

Thanks for the welcome Highboy. The weather was great and I keept my eyes open for any bumps but I don't think I saw any. I like Texas a lot and loved El Paso and the scenery, it's beautiful. You're right that Mexico is close, going down I10 in some places you could almost through a stone across to Juarez and we actually crossed into New Mexico too. We used the Santa Teresa point of entry into Mexico and coming back. Thanks again and it would have been cool to run into you somewhere. Maybe next time.
