Last time I topped the Ford off I got 15.3 mpg.
I can live with that for now.
With driving my vehicle for work, I spend about 500 to 600 a month on gas.
I get some major discounts at the local Giant Eagle grocery chain with a 1% discount on groceries for every 10 gallons of gas. Too bad you can only use up to 20% at a time.
A word of advice. Don't calculate how much you spend on gas

Sometimes the mind, for reasons we don't necessarily understand, just decides to go to the store for a quart of milk.

When I drove the unibody only to and from work it was $450 a month. That's why I got the Focus; gas and the car payment is $325.

Well I wouldn't hold your breath The way things are going right now with work and family it may be this coming winter before I get to finish it, but we will see. Hopefully not!1971ford wrote:I'm thinking more like ohhhhh say a diesel swapfomocoguy wrote:That's why you need a third bump with a fuel injected 300 or 302 in it....
I am thinking hard about swapping a diesel in the highboy in the future. I'd love to have 25 mpg's in my bump
How would a FI 300 or 302 do for towing? I have never touched one of those engines before How many MPG's would you guess they would get?
I'm still waiting for you to try out the crew's new engine, if it has the towing power and the mpg's then I'd rather drop an I6 in like you. HMmmmm

Mine is in one piece and drivable. Between too much time at work and the snow and rain in February, I just haven't had the time to drive it. But, summer is coming and there is more firewood to be brought home all the time.MaxKlinger wrote: But like FLATBEDFORD, I haven't filled up my Bump since the end of 2009.]

Re: A word of advice. Don't calculate how much you spend on gas
I have been getting 16-17 mpg in mine driving to and from work (5 miles).
I do get 20-21 mpg on the highway when I can leave it in 5th and just cruise along at 65mph. I fill up once a month or so for about $40-$50.
I am going to keep track of it better this summer, as I plan to do more driving.

I've always thought as far as MPG..."don't ask, don't tell" Its kinda like what the Jeep guys say:"It;s a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand"
Its a highboys ford that is 40 years old. I don't care what MPG it gets, its

Re: A word of advice. Don't calculate how much you spend on gas
but you can be proud of the milage it gets. most don't expect 4x4 to get over 6-10 mpgs. so when it get 7-12 you can be happy about it.
for instance this last two tanks i saw 12 mpg's flat outa my old 390. heck i drove 445 miles and only used 2 tanks all in town.
that was around 100 bucks for fuel. so far since jan. i have only spent 285. on gas this year, all in the 72 f100.
everything in the cougar is left over from december 2009. and it's getting 22 in town.
just figuring that out, in the truck, depending on road condition and giving a 3-400 cushion for unexpected expenses and a little for hotels a road trip of 2800 miles, say here to san Jose cualiflower would cost between $600 and $1000.00
