transmisson swap

Post by BobB »

I have a 1972 Ford F100 with a 302 engine C6 trans. I want to put a automatic overdrive in it to increase gas
mileage. What years will work. I also want to change the rear end, what ratio would be good.
Any comments are welcomed.
Thanks.

aod w/ 3.5 or 3.7 rear gears. Is your truck lwb or swb? I ask, because with a swb, and the Mustang Aod, the 80s crown vic drive shaft fits without cutting. The crown vic aod is longer.

With that motor,Id doubt youd see any improvement, except on open road, change the rear gear, and it may help,as you planned.

i was reading this while searching for info on my AOD swap. I have a 70 F100 with a 302, C4, and 3:50 gears.. I see ToughOldFord put the unhappy faces by the AOD @3.54. Why is that. Will the 302 not have enough power?

Um, those are two pennies (meaning he put his 2 cents in).
